Originating from organiser Geoff Wan’s passion for the iconic Aussie pub rock era of the 80s and 90s, Wanstock has evolved into an annual celebration of world-class and emerging artists. The 2024 edition continues this tradition, bringing together a stellar lineup of homegrown and international rock talents.

Headlining the festival are influential blues rockers, The Animals, making their final Australian appearance. With hits spanning generations, including classics like ‘We Gotta Get Out Of This Place’ and ‘The House of the Rising Sun,’ The Animals are a cornerstone of the British Invasion. Celebrating their 60th anniversary, Wanstock 2024 will be their swan song in Australia. Drummer John Steel expresses his excitement, saying, “Every gig so far has sold out and closed with a standing ovation so we must be doing something right. Hoping for the same in Oz, best wishes from the band.”

Dragon, the New Zealand-born rock icons who found their home in Australia, will also grace the Wanstock stage, promising a set filled with hits like ‘Are You Old Enough,’ ‘April Sun in Cuba,’ and ‘Rain.’ Their induction into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 2008 solidifies their enduring impact on the rock scene.

Ted Mulry Gang (TMG), known for the 1975 hit ‘Jump In My Car,’ will be returning to Wanstock after their headline performance in 2020. Drummer Herm Kovac expresses the band’s excitement, looking forward to a Melbourne visit under happier circumstances.

Melbourne powerhouse trio Standing Room Only, Aussie covers sensations Strait Shooters, and emerging alternative punks Daydreamers complete the stellar lineup for Wanstock 2024.

Organized by music enthusiast Geoff Wansbrough, Wanstock began as a birthday celebration featuring favorite bands. Inspired by the spirit of the original Woodstock Music Festival and the Aussie pub rock era, Wanstock has grown into a must-attend event, showcasing classic acts alongside emerging talents.

Each year, Wanstock aims to be bigger and better, and 2024 is no exception. Geoff Wan explains, “I grew up in that awesome Aussie pub rock era of the 1980s and 90s. Wanstock came about when I was having a birthday a few years ago. Each year, I try and make it bigger and better. And this year is really something special with the legendary Animals playing their last ever show in Melbourne.”
