Foster a furry friend and liven up your self-isolation.

Looking for love, happiness and an instant mood booster (read: adorable, furry companion) to get you through the latest lockdown?

Providing the rewarding answer you never knew you needed, fostering a furry friend could be exactly what you need, especially if you can’t commit to caring for one indefinitely.

Homeless dogs, puppies, cats, kittens, birds and ‘pocket pets’ arrive in pounds and shelters every day. To get the second chance they deserve, each of these animals desperately needs a foster carer.

Waggin Tails Animal Rescue, a Geelong-based rescue shelter, is currently desperate for doggo foster carers across the Geelong region and Melbourne.

Taking to social media, the organisation has revealed they are in need of carers for dogs at risk of being put to sleep.

“Dogs needed care are from friendly and will suit family homes or homes with other pets, to single dog homes only.

“There are lots of dogs needing help that will suit different households.”

Depending on the pet you wish to foster, you can welcome an adorable companion into your home temporarily for a few weeks right through to a few months, looking after them and helping them become well-socialised and ready for adoption.

Carers need to be able to get to their designated vets in Geelong, Lilydale or Lynbrook.

They also have dog food donations in Geelong that can be provided to carers.
