Vintage Drag in Mint Condition – An evening with Stan Munro

VINTAGE DRAG IN MINT CONDITION

An evening with Stan Munro

Join Kevin Markwell in conversation with legendary entertainer Dame Stan Munro as he talks about his glamorous career that stretches across three continents and six decades – and counting. All will be revealed in this captivating, honest and no-holds barred reflection of a life well-lived.

A one-time resident of Castlemaine, Stan is super excited to be bringing his show for his friends, old and new.

“I can’t wait to perform again in Castlemaine, where I have such wonderful memories. I really hope that the audience will come away with a much better understanding of my career – but most importantly that they will have had a great night of entertainment. That’s what my whole career has been about”.

“Drag has treated me very well and enabled me to do the things I love. I love performing. I love entertaining. I always have. This is my story”.

Arriving in Sydney in 1963 as a 10 Pound pom, young Stan soon discovered the emerging drag scene and managed to snag himself a job as a male dancer at the newly opened les Girls Restaurant in Kings Cross. Within a few years – and not a few spectacular gowns and wigs – Stan had been promoted to compere and star before later taking Les Girls to Melbourne in 1970 where he compered for the next eight years.  The rest is, as they say, history.

Stan recently performed at Halfway to Heaven, an LGBTQI+ cabaret in the West End of London and appeared in the ABC series, Queerstralia, in February.

Join Stan for an evening of stories and memories, lip-synching and laughter, as well as a few surprises. [add details about venue and ticketing]
