Vintage Crop: TV Organs

An album recorded within the space of five hours in a kitchen is a feat, and it achieves everything that a good garage rock album should. Listening to TV Organs makes you feel as if you’ve been gifted the opportunity to sit on the kitchen bench and watch the boys jam.

How Vintage Crop managed to write, record and release their debut album having only released their first EP less than six months ago is beyond me, however they are undeniably successful.

Lyrically, this album is raw and honest. ‘Catfish’ kicks the album off, describing a relatable, modern day relationship. The repetition of “that’s what you get for falling in love online” is both direct and honest. Similarly, the esoteric suburban lyrics of ‘One Way Street’ are immediately engaging to local listeners. Track after track, this album continues to showcase witty and nimble lyrics.

TV Organs is available to pre-order on cassette, and I can only imagine that this would be the best way to listen to the album; apart from seeing it live of course. I can already see the sweaty mosh…
