Melbourne alt country singer-songwriter Clint Wilson has released his new single 'People Don't Think Like Us' with an accompanying video.
‘People Don’t Think Like Us’ is Wilson’s first single since his highly-successful sophomore record Another Death in The Family debuted in second spot on the iTunes Country Albums chart and reached 12th on the ARIA Australian Country Albums chart.
Wilson has forged a sterling reputation for his compelling storytelling and often haunting subject matter, and ‘People Don’t Think Like Us’ picks up where Wilson left off by opening with that lonesome slide guitar.

An artist who’s been compared to the likes of Paul Kelly, Wilson describes his songs as a heartfelt recollection of stories past and present. As such they have a particular emotive quality – ‘People Don’t Think Like Us’ is described as building like a truck slowly picking up speed, growling down an empty highway like a juggernaut in the dead of night.
The folk, alt-country maestro calls it “a step in a new direction”. The song paints a portrait of a tired Wilson, yearning for change – “it’s a song about moving away from the city out to the country, realising that everybody thinks differently and that’s not a bad thing,” he continues.
Wilson’s highly-regarded space within the contemporary alt-country scene is further evidenced by the calibre of his collaborators. ‘People Don’t Think Like Us’ was co-written with Coffs Harbour artist Billie-Jo Porter, while the song was produced on the other side of the world by Grammy nominee Callum Barter (Courtney Barnett, Kurt Vile). “I helped him build his home studio a few years back,” remarks Wilson. “And we had planned to catch up and check out the finished space. I thought why not record a track while I’m there.”
Wilson plans to return to Barter’s Los Angeles studio later in 2022 to continue recording his next album. Wilson also enlisted Glenn Triggs to shoot and direct the video, knowing “his way of capturing the quirkiness of things would work perfectly in the clip.”
