Victoria’s free answer to Bluesfest: The Winter Blues Festival announces full lineup for 2023

Arguably one of the biggest regional blues events in Australia, the Echuca-Moama Winter Blues festival is back for 2023 with a full festival lineup.

Featuring the cream of the Australian Blues music scene and renowned as one of the longest-running and most important events on the blues festival calendar, The Winter Blues Festival has revealed its full festival lineup for its July event.

Now in its 24th year, the free festival has gone from humble beginnings as a one-Sunday-afternoon event in a pub with a handful of bands – to become a festival that sprawls across four days, in 20-plus venues around the town of Echuca, Victoria.

The festival is one of the longest-running and most important events on the blues festival calendar, this year featuring giants of the Aussie festival scene in 19-Twenty, Dom Turner, Lloyd Spiegel, Fiona Boyes, Frank Sultana, Owen Campbell, and Hat Fitz and Cara.

Vocal sensation Karise Eden will make her Winter Blues debut, along with the cream of local and national touring artists including Blues Roulette, Catfish Voodoo, Geoff Achison, Jesse Redwing, Julian James, Fools, Mike Elrington, Collard Greens and Gravy, Phil Para Band, Cass Eager, and so many more…

As always, this incredible event is free.

Along with the continued success of the Winter Blues Festival has come huge economic and cultural benefits for the local and regional community with something for everyone: fantastic artists in comfortable venues, brilliant food and drink options, and a Family Space suitable for blues fans of all ages.

As 20,000 punters make the annual pilgrimage to Echuca Moama from all over Australia, it’s hard to believe that the last weekend in July was once the quietest weekend of the year for tourism in the historic port town.

The Winter Blues Festival is traditionally capped off with the infamous Radcliffe’s Wrap Party, and 2023 will be no exception! This special show is always a highlight of the weekend and features ’The Best of The Festival’ with Winter Blues Artists jamming with house band Blues Roulette. The Wrap Party raises money to fund the activities of the festival committee and is the only ticketed event of the weekend. You can purchase tickets to that here.

The Winter Blues Festival was set up by the community for the community and is a not-for-profit organisation that relies on funding from local businesses and grants funding to keep going. All venues are free entry, except the Wrap Party and River Cruises on PS Pevensey.

The Winter Blues Festival takes place from July 27 – 30 2023. Find out more here
