One that’s caught our eye is ‘Locked Down? Learn’, a series of free, no strings attached, weekly mentorship chat sessions, with the Vicious and Be Rich A&R and label team (Peking Duk, Madison Avenue, Avicii, The Potbelleez).
With so much of the world in isolation right now, these webinars are free, one hour-long workshop chat sessions will allow you to learn more about the dance music industry, providing opportunities to ask questions about each week’s topic and give you access to the insights of people whose daily job is developing, releasing and promoting dance and electronic music.
The first session kicks off this Thursday, April 23 at 10am AEST, and will be all about artists and repertoire – aka the backbone of the music business. With a panel featuring the Vicious & Be Rich A&R team, participants will discover the basics including getting your music ready for a label, as an Artist getting your music released and the basics of A&R and how labels sign artists and music.
The next session will bring the focus to marketing and will feature Vicious & Be Rich Marketing team and PR guest Angie Young from Xposed Media to discuss the important tools of marketing & PR, why is it important and what can you do to make this aspect of your career better. This one’s a night session, going live at 7pm AEST on Thursday, April 30.
A management session with Vicious & Be Rich Label Managers and Marketing Manager will then follow on Thursday May 7 at 10am AEST, highlighting the role of a manager, while the last session on May 14 (7pm AEST) will discuss the business behind the music. Featuring Vicious & Be Rich Business Affairs and Account Manager, this session will detail how Artists get paid, how record deals work, basic Publishing and how labels earn income, with a focus on public Performance, royalties, flat fees, advances and time frames.
