Vera Blue: Fingertips

Having been lucky enough to see Vera Blue in the flesh earlier this year playing a few of these tracks live, hearing the recorded version is much the same. Her vocal ability is breathtaking and her new sound (and equally new project in Vera Blue) is just as thrilling.

‘Hold’ is emotional, grappling and a track that pulls at the heartstrings. It leaves you feeling raw and wanting more – in the best possible way. Next up ‘Settle’ plays with a different emotion but continues to showcase Vera Blue’s vocal prowess. The last 30 seconds are particularly impressive with her crooning and yodel-like vocal exertion. The percussion really cements the track as well.

Working alongside Gossling and producers Andy & Thom Mak, the new sound is refined, lush, sultry, with hints of her original folk sound. By all accounts the five songs on the release are utterly bewitching, and will leave you wanting more from one of Australia’s most promising talents.
