The space with an outside view of the glorious mural of musicians Jay-Z and Beyonce on the side wall, was spawned from a 16-year-old dream for owner and founder Scott Hunt which saw his unique style of gypsy brewing (where the brewer does not own a brewery but travels to and pays for use of brewery space to make blends) flowing for customers in the space.
Outgrowing the gypsy brewing operation, Hunt expanded Valhalla Taproom into a brewery and brewhouse at the Federal Mills, which has now become the businesses flagship site.
The news of the Valhalla Taproom sale was posted on social media last night, informing customers of the change and inviting interested buyers forward.
It read, ‘It is with a mixture of sadness and anticipation that we have decided to sell our much loved union street Taproom đź–¤ It has become very clear over the past few months that we need to dedicate all our time, effort and resources into our new North Geelong brewery and brewhall and so it is time to simplify and provide a new owner with the opportunity to give our taproom a new lease on life.”

The announcement comes days after fellow Union Street hotspot, Union Street Cellars closes its doors in favour of focusing on their Herne Hill location.
Valhalla Brewery will still be in full swing with a major focus on growth for the beer brand in the future, with the hall serving up live events and music, great dining options and delicious frothies. You can’t miss their Obsidian Black Ale or their fan favourite Golden Ale.
