Cutting down the waiting time between take-off and making trains less congested, V/Line have added more trains to their weekend service.
The Victorian Government has unveiled their new V/Line timetable for the Geelong line, running trains every 20 minutes across the weekend.
Taking effect from 1 December, just in time for silly season and the holiday period, the reviewed timetable both delivers 68 new weekend services for Geelong line passengers and extends services running from Wyndham Vale through to Waurn Ponds termination point.
Geelong Line V/Line Timetable Update
- Trains to run every 20 minutes across weekends
- Lines extended from Wyndham Vale to include South Geelong, Marshall and terminate at Waurn Ponds
- Introduction of VLocity Trains from Wyndham Vale station for two morning services and one afternoon peak service

Weekday travellers and work commuters can also rejoice in extended train services, reaching South Geelong, Marshall and Waurn Ponds stations to service our rapidly expanded urban growth areas.
The review of timetables also accounts for the demand of passengers travelling from Wyndham Vale station as a result of the Western Suburbs new developments. As such the station will see the Governments nine-carriage $600m high speed trains, VLocity trains, be utilised for two morning services and one afternoon peak service to provide further capacity for passengers.
These timetable updates are the result of high commuter traffic between Geelong, the Western Suburbs and inner city Melbourne which is set to increase as the weather heats up for special events including the Boxing Day Test, and as organisations review their work from home policy, reintroducing on-site hours.
The updated services follows the completion of Stage 2 of the Geelong Line Upgrade which saw investment in developing two new platforms at Marshall and South Geelong Station, and delivered on signal upgrades between the Geelong and Waurn Ponds stations.
