Urzila Carlson announces hilarious new 2024 ‘Just Jokes’ tour

Urzila Carlson, Australia's beloved South African-New Zealander, has set the comedy scene abuzz with her latest announcement of a national tour for 2024 - 'Just Jokes.'

Kicking off at the Odeon Theatre in Hobart on March 23, Urzila Carlson will soon have the nation in stitches as she takes her hilarious show to Werribee on March 24, followed by an extended stint at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival from March 27. The ‘Just Jokes’ tour will span across 12 cities and regional centres from March to August, including Whyalla, Adelaide, Darwin, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Newcastle, Sydney, Perth, and Canberra.

In Urzila‘s own words, the premise is simple: “Just Jokes is as it says on the label! Just jokes! Come for a show and leave with a sore face from laughing! Switch off and relax.”

Urzila Carlson, a three-time winner of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s People’s Choice Award for the most tickets sold, has solidified her position as a fan favourite. Besides her live shows, she’s a household name in Australia, recognized as a regular on Network Ten’s ‘Have You Been Paying Attention?’ She was also a contestant on the second season of ‘Taskmaster NZ,’ now available on BINGE in Australia and Channel 4 in the United Kingdom.

Urzila marked her UK TV debut in 2023, making an appearance on QI during her overseas tour in September. She’s also a part of the star-studded lineup on ‘Celebrity Gogglebox Australia,’ alongside her pals Julia Morris and Nazeem Hussain.

As a true comedy workhorse, Urzila’s touring game is at its peak. In the past year, she sold out two tours in the United Kingdom and a European tour. She even made time for a season at the exclusive Just For Laughs comedy festival in Montreal. Next, she will host The Just For Laughs All-Star Gala at the Sydney Opera House, alongside Dara O Briain, Joanne McNally, and Russell Kane.

The excitement doesn’t end there. In 2024, Urzila is set to lend her voice to the character ‘Honkus’ in the feature animation ‘Ozi,’ a film featuring a star-studded cast including Donald Sutherland, Laura Dern, Ru Paul, and Amandla Stenberg, produced by none other than Leonardo DiCaprio.

If that’s not enough, Urzila Carlson is now in the fourth season of her chart-topping podcast, ‘That’s Enough Already!’ In the podcast, she chats with comedians about what annoys them the most about themselves and others. Past guests include comedy legends like Jimmy Carr, Sarah Millican, Julia Morris, Tim Minchin, Russell Howard, and many more.

Urzila Carlson’s performances are known for their effortless likeability, offering a stream of belly-laughs. Critics have hailed her as a gifted and accomplished comedian, making her an absolute must-see. Expect belly laughs and guffaws aplenty.
