There’s a new kid on the block for self-care, in Cup A Day Tea. The Geelong-Melbourne based tea company is aiming to help you relax and unwind while simultaneously addressing the stigma that surrounds mental health.
In June of 2020, amidst a global pandemic three young Geelong entrepreneurs were busily launching their brand. All three partners are BIG TIME lovers of tea themselves, and they saw a gap in the market for ethically sourced and seriously delicious loose-leaf teas.
During a period where conversations around mental health couldn’t be more poignant, Cup A Day tea works closely with beyond blue, donating 15% of all profits to mental health research. Mental health is something that is “super important” to the brand as they aim to help facilitate daily a self-care ritual to help “recentre, refocus and reframe the mind body and soul.”
Cup a day tea currently stocks one tea variety, aptly named ‘Unwind’ which is hand rolled whole leaves of Chinese jasmine green tea that unravel as you brew. Their tea is unlike any other, appearing at first as small pearls that slowly unfurl as you brew your tea meaning there is no need for an infuser (YAY).
Their teas are all ethically sourced (bonus) with the tea being sourced directly from the Fujian Province in China. Green tea is proven to boost your mood and improve brain function, making it your perfect drink of choice for any time of day.
Cup A Day Tea put supporting other local businesses at the forefront of their brand, consistently working with multiple other Geelong and Melbourne based small businesses. Their latest venture sees them collaborating with likeminded companies to create beautiful gift boxes perfect to treat yourself with or to pamper someone special. The gift box includes a large bag of their signature ‘Unwind’ tea, a luxury willow and sprout candle and a handcrafted, vegan soap bar from utopia soap and body creations.
The company hopes to extend their range to encompass a broad selection of tea varieties, including more green teas, black tea, oolong, fruit teas and herbal ranges. Hoping to even add a few caffeine free options to the ever-growing assortment.
Some SUPER exciting things are on the horizon for cup a day tea, keep your eyes peeled for up to four new flavours in the VERY near future, a collab with Melbourne based artist, Elia, and 100% compostable and biodegradable packaging by late this October!
