With exclusive artist collaborations at the core of the brand’s essence, working to create wearable art where clothing is the canvas, the beloved fashion empire has now advertised a job opportunity for a store manager to lead, inspire, and support the team, and manage the day-to-day in their new Geelong store (you can apply here).

While certainly a great job opportunity for one lucky local, it’s what the job listing means for the region that has us beaming with absolute joy, bringing the beloved fashion store to Geelong, opening mid-August 2022.

We don’t know a lot about the store at this stage – only that it’s definitely coming – but what we do know is that the store will provide Geelong fashionistas the chance to shop in store and explore the extraordinary through colourful textile based collections, limited edition artist collaborations, creative brand experience, and exceptional customer service. You’ll find stunning clothing, accessories, homewares and even pet products, like coats, collars and bowls.

As one of the most recognisable brands in the Australian fashion world, Gorman actually all started with Warrnambool born and bred fashion designer Lisa Gorman.

Growing up in the coastal town in the 1970s, Lisa started her fashion empire young by creating clothing for the Gorman sisters’ Barbie collection and at just 13, Lisa started her first business selling custom made applique sweaters to Warrnambool’s craft store and it was only up from there. First stocked at the now defunct Fat 52 boutique in 1999, Gorman has grown to become one of Australia’s most successful brands, with tonnes of its own retail stores across the country, cultivating a reputation for making colorful, art-inspired clothes that are environmentally friendly.

15 renowned people you never knew were from Warrnambool, or maybe you did?

While Lisa stepped away from the company last last year, after 22 years at the helm, the brand’s signature kaleidoscopic prints continue to shine through iconic collections of clothing, footwear, accessories and homewares in Australia and NZ.
