The highly anticipated weekend of heavy music chaos has been moved to March 2022.

In another huge blow to local festival-goers, UNIFY Forever has announced it will unfortunately not be going ahead this January and will instead take place on the previously announced ‘back-up weekend’ of Thursday 10 March to Sunday 13 March 2022.

With the rise in COVID positive cases and the impact this is having on the healthcare system and staffing levels, the festival announced the news on Tuesday after receiving critical advice from key stakeholders, including emergency services, that the resources required to run UNIFY Forever on the January dates would be limited due to the pandemic.

“As we hope you all understand, without the confirmation of adequate emergency services and other key event personnel we just can’t proceed safely in January,” the festival said.

“Although not the outcome we had hoped for, safety is always our priority when running UNIFY and it’s the best decision we can make given the current situation.”

Since the heavy festival launched in 2015 with a lineup of entirely Aussie artists, UNIFY has had pretty much every heavy artist in the country perform across their six events. Due to the current situation and the impact it has had on the music industry especially, UNIFY decided to head back to their roots and invite all the past Aussie artists back for a huge celebration in Tarwin Lower, originally due to go ahead January 20 – 23 2022.

From promising up and comers to triple j mainstays; nostalgic singalongs, guitar legends and striking storytellers to unapologetic punk-rockers and earthshattering breakdowns – including the likes of The Amity Affliction, Violent Soho, Ocean Grove, Thornhill, Yours Truly, WAAX, Alpha Wolf, and Teenage Joans, the postponed UNIFY 2022 event will see a vast majority of the lineup perform, with a further update due in coming weeks.

All tickets remain valid for the March dates. UNIFY is one of very few festivals in Australia that announced its return with back up dates; bands were booked for both dates and ticket buyers bought with back up date in mind in terms and conditions. Turns out, this move was incredibly forward-thinking by the festival.

UNIFY will go ahead Thursday 10 March to Sunday 13 March 2022. Visit the website for more info.
