Ten years after their reunion, Ride are still on the rollercoaster high with new album release and show dates.

Forming in Oxford, England in 1988, Ride set the blueprint for the shoegaze scene alongside the likes of My Bloody Valentine and Slowdive, with the release of their landmark debut album Nowhere. The album became an instant classic sparking a scene and sound that would define a genre and generation.

Since reforming in 2014, the band have released three albums including the latest Interplay which they are now taking on the road, heading down under to play six dates across Australia and New Zealand, including Melbourne’s famed Forum Theatre on Saturday 10 August 2024.

With their seventh album Interplay in hand, Ride will roll through both their new material and their classic catalogue on stage. Interplay follows 2017’s Weather Diaries and 2019’s This Is Not A Safe Place, both albums responsible for re-lighting the Ride spark, pleasing old diehards and introducing one of the most forward-thinking guitar bands of their generation to a whole new audience. It connects all the dots from their career, taking the frenzied guitar attacks, hypnotic grooves and dreamy melodic hooks of their early work and setting it to a more expansive sonic template, inspired by 80’s pop gems like Tears For Fears, Talk Talk and early U2.

Live the chaotic guitars meet excellently produced synths and melodies, as threads of psychedelic folk and electronic music weave together with ease continuing the bands reign as a pinnacle figure in the shoegaze scene.

Joining Ride on their epic return to Australia and New Zealand is beloved indie/psych rock group Mercury Rev. Led by Jonathan Donahue and Sean ‘Grasshopper’ Mackowiak, Mercury Rev has continued to reinvent and celebrate their classic sound that has been unafraid to explore new forms throughout the ‘90s, ‘00s and into present day. Their partnering with Ride is set to have delight diehard fans of the genre.

Tickets for the Ride return shows via Destroy All Lines go on presale Wednesday 15 May at 9:00am local time, with general public sale following on Friday 17 May at 9:00am local. Tickets and tour information can be found here.
