Twisted Beaches Apparel allows you to showcase your favourite local surf spot with pride

Brothers Darcy and Alastair.

This 90s surf and vintage-inspired clothing line reflects the “vibrant and unique beaches we are so lucky to have”

Melbournian brothers Darcy and Alastair describe themselves to have a strong passion for surfing the Victorian coastline, which ultimately inspired them to dive into the fashion sector and devise their apparel line Twisted Beaches.

Using Darcy’s background in art and design, the pair wanted the clothes to reflect the “vibrant and unique beaches we are so lucky to have” here in Victoria. Each item of clothing is tailored to a local beach, including Lorne, Bells and Torquay, Anglesea, Fairhaven, Port Fairy, Ocean Grove and Barwon Heads, and a huge variety of beaches sitting on the other side of the bay such as Sorrento, Mornington, and Wilsons Prom.

A project inspired within the boredom of our first lockdown, Twisted Beaches aims to “showcase our awesome beaches so that the people of Victoria can wear their beaches with pride” whilst also wearing something groovy and fashionable in the process.

The line ranges from t-shirts to caps, to jumpers and hoodies, all in a variety of vintages colours that pop. Each item has the buyers selected beach printed on the front with a variety of bold and funky fonts available. Colours range from the basics of black and white to a surfy blue, to light pink, to even a fiery red or indigo blue.

Named after our childhood cult classic Round The Twist, Alastair and Darcy reflected on their strong connection and love for Fairhaven beach helping inspire the brand. Their grandparents were part of the founding members of the surf lifesaving club down there, as well as the brothers being involved in the nippers program as kids.

Each item is designed locally by the two, and their fulfilment partner crafts the clothing both locally and internationally for brands, however Twisted Beaches emphasise that they are “working towards a fully locally-made business with garments and printing to be done locally” like other local beachy brands such as Swim by Elly.

All items range from $50 to $60 and are made with 100% cotton, so quality is ensured.
