You’ll be feeling like J.LO after this one!

Forget going to the gym, this workout combines an intense gym sesh with a night out! TwerkFit is the new craze designed to get you fit whilst also learning the skills to tear up that dance floor.

Run by local Geelong woman, Sal, TwerkFit is an inclusive dance class that marries cardiovascular exercises and improving overall muscle tone with the ever-popular dance move – twerking.

Designed for all fitness levels this workout aims to help tone those vital areas in a refreshing way.

“It’s definitely something a bit different, but it’s a fun class and I’ve had positive feedback from everyone that has tried it so far” said Sal.

Each class begins with a warmup, followed by a TwerkFit workout, which target the legs, bums and tums. Twerk up a sweat to songs like WAP, Body, Joro and other booty shaking tunes!

Struggling to run through and after the year of COVID-19, it’s the reaction from participants that has given Sal that boost that she needed to push through opening a business in the middle of a pandemic.

“I love my job so much and love seeing the smile on everyone’s faces and the sweat at the end of the class,” added Sal.

Even if you’ve got two left feet, or a little stage shy about dancing in front of others, you have nothing to stress about! The TwerkFit classes are ensured to be a safe and uplifting environment. Sal wants all her participants to embrace their curves and find their inner beauty.

All you need to bring along to these classes are a towel, water bottle, knee pads (which can be purchased at the studio) and a keen attitude to get moving!

We couldn’t think of a more enjoyable way of getting active. Learn all your moves at these classes then show them off at the club!

And if you don’t feel comfortable shaking it in front of others, Sal has you covered with classes via Zoom! There’s even a subscription service where you can pay just $6.50 a week and get a weekly recorded class direct to your inbox!

Four-week mini classes are run on Monday and Friday at 7:30pm weekly starting March 2 at Smitt Fitt Aerial Fitness, 2/158 McClelland Ave, Lara 3212.

A second studio is opening up in North Geelong in April, so stay tuned for more of Sal’s TwerkFit classes!
