TARRA is the newest addition to the Bellarine Peninsula's already impressive food scene.

Gifting the region a stunning new destination eatery led by a renowned Mornington Peninsula chef, TARRA Restaurant is the luxe new offering arriving as part of the multimillion-dollar redevelopment of the Queenscliff Ferry Terminal on The Bellarine.

Sitting on the waterfront against the superlative natural backdrop of Port Phillip Bay, TARRA is an indulgent and iconic, architectural, state-of-the-art building and dining experience, arriving courtesy of Searoad Ferries.

Keep up with the latest food and booze news across the region here.

Opening this month with acclaimed chef Michael Demagistris at the helm, the new 60-seat restaurant will offer a contemporary coastal dining experience with exquisite bay views worthy of any occasion. Armed with a modern and stylish interior, the focus at TARRA will be on showcasing the best of local produce and seasonal ingredients.

Chef Demagistris brings a wealth of experience to TARRA, having previously worked at some of Australia’s most prestigious restaurants including Jacques. His passion for food has seen him travel the world, working in venues such as Alinea, The Publican and Noma. Known for his innovative approach to cooking and extensive use of local produce, he has also been recognised in the television media, featuring in the top four of TV series MasterChef, The Professionals.

Now, Chef Demagistris is bringing his passion and expertise to TARRA Queenscliff, developing a menu that highlights Bellarine produce and emphasizes his love of foraging. He is constantly exploring to find new and interesting ingredients. Some of his favourites include sea succulents, kelp, samphire, and wild berries, which he incorporates into his dishes.

“I can’t wait to create some truly memorable dishes for our guests,” he says.

Chef Demagistris, alongside head chef Ryan James, will masterfully weave cultural traditions with innovative culinary techniques, pushing boundaries with every dish and creating a symphony of flavours that will leave guests spellbound. You can get a taste of the exquisite menu at TARRA’s upcoming Mother’s Day lunch, offering a little sneak peek into the offering that awaits when the restaurant unveils its new menu this winter. You can explore this further here.

In addition to the stunning views and delicious food, TARRA also features a bar that serves a range of local beers, wines, and cocktails (plus one seriously impressive wine wall). Expect local heroes like Oakdene, Scotchmans Hill, Bellarine Estate, Barwon Heads and Prickley Moses beers, alongside Teddy & the Fox gin and Queenscliff gin. The bars cocktail menu is inspired by the ocean and features creative and refreshing drinks that are perfect for a summer’s day.

The opening of TARRA as part of the Queenscliff Ferry Terminal redevelopment is an exciting addition to the region for locals and visitors alike, with its prime waterfront location and stunning views making it the perfect spot for a special occasion or a leisurely lunch.

TARRA is located on the ground floor of the new Queenscliff building. Find out more here
