Originally slated to run for 12 days from February 10 – 21, the indulgent Bellbrae destination was forced to cancel its beloved festival two days after it began due to Victoria’s snap five-day lockdown. Committed to bringing regional ice cream lovers 12 new flavours of gelato, sorbets and froyos each day, the chocolaterie announced it will be extended the festival until 5pm on Sunday, February 28.

Churning out a baffling 144 flavours all up, this year’s limited-edition flavours have been inspired by famous cocktails and pastries and cakes, with the talented Chocolatiers using ingredients from the chocolaterie’s own garden, too. Think old-time favourites, classic combinations as well as exotic creations like black sticky rice banana, French Opera Cake, Turkish Delight Pavlova and Charcoal Cherry Ripe, and even the Spiced Negroni and Yuzu Whisky Sour. They’ve even had a special ‘Star Wars Galaxy’ black and white Storm Trooper ice cream, topped with Star Wars chocolate figurines.

They will also be featuring sugar, gluten and dairy-free options available, so no one has to miss out on this icy goodness. We spied a pretty tasty looking green apple and basil sorbet which looks pretty damn tasty.

Further celebrating the heavenly dessert, ice-cream lovers can still book into 45-minute tastings where you can get generous samples of 12 flavours and the option of creating your own ice cream (choosing from 50 ingredients), all for just $20.

With 12 new flavours released each day, the best news is that entry to the festival is free so you’re only expense is the scoops you’re prepared to inhale. Ice creams start at $4.80.

It all goes down at the Great Ocean Road Chocolaterie & Ice-Creamery, 1200 Great Ocean Road, Bellbrae until Sunday, February 28. Find out more here.

The ice cream festival will also take place across its other two venues, Yarra Valley Chocolaterie and Mornington Peninsula Chocolaterie.
