Tin Stars is an Australian alt-country quartet (ex GIT, Sweet Delores and Hazchem) based on Wadawurrung Country. Delving into the messy glory of the human condition and beyond, the band’s musical stylings range from slow burn twang to cowpunk tinged bar room swagger. Their unconventional sound suggests The Knitters, Cowboy Junkies and Freakwater.
Susan Russell, Narelle Jolley and Sarah Carroll have been entwined musically for 20 years. In 2023 they hatched a plan for a band with Sarah on drums (a long held dream), Narelle on bass (back to her roots) and Susan up front as songwriter. Recruiting Noah Grosz with his distinctive, edgy guitar playing style has lent the band a gritty sonic palette; the perfect counterpoint to the band’s lush 3 part harmonies and Susan’s dreamy, feisty song writing.
