Tim Wheatley has just released his new album Cast of Yesterday, and right from the start of the album, the album is a bunch of songs that will transport you to another time. Recorded at Sing Sing Studios in Melbourne with Paul Mckercher behind the controls, Wheatley has definitely created an album that should feature on best of the year album lists. The vocals are slick and smooth and the storytelling is top notch stuff.
Described by critics as an album that really nails it from the beginning, I must confess that I have no criticisms of this record. Over the past week the record has charted at #9 on the Aria Country charts and #18 on the Australian artist chart. If you are looking for an album that illustrates years of hard work within the industry, and songs that glitter with heartache, soul and passion, then look no further than Cast of Yesterday.
Having toured around the US three times already and released two independent EPs, this is an album that shows the hard work that Wheatley has put in is finally paying the dividends. ‘Burning the Midnight Oil’ is the first single off this album and is a strong track to introduce to the troubadour nature of Wheatley’s music. Having toured around the world before releasing this album, the next one is definitely sure to be filled with more tales from the road. Well done Mr Wheatley, your album is blissful from straight to finish and will be stuck in my head for days.
