The Thundamentals have been a staple in Aussie Hip-Hop since they came on the scene 10 years ago. And like every regular person or group, they’ve changed in that time.
‘I Love Songs’ is the crescendo of their change, shifting from their regularly political hip-hop into an album which feels like a love song dedication to music and people.
The Thundercat have produced an effortlessly experimental album this time around, dipping their feet into some RnB vibes and coming out with a track like ‘Royal Flush.’
Another worthy mention which took about .3 seconds to fall in love with is the last song of the album, where the angelic voice of Adrian Eagle features on ‘True Love’. This beautiful song tops off an impressive change of pace for the Thundamentals.
After listening to the album a few times, the next time I see them live I think there will be plenty of Lighters In The Air moments.
