Ready to float under the stars to a series of cinematic classics at the Peninsula Hot Springs?
At the end of the working week, there’s nothing better than a good, long soak. Luckily, Mornington Peninsula’s iconic Peninsula Hot Springs’ much-loved outdoor cinema is back for August, where bathers can view classic flicks from the comfort of their own mineral bath.
This month they’re screening cinematic favourites Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Notting Hill, An Officer and a Gentleman and The Parent Trap, from now until August 25. Enjoy timeless favourites under the stars in their open-air amphitheatre with their heated geothermal pools.

With refreshments available to order prepared by the Peninsula local Blue Mini Cafe, or a grazing platter or gourmet pizza under the stars prepared by their Bath House Cafe. Their Bathe in Cinema program is a favourite of the venue and it’s an experience like no other.

An ideal location for Melburnians, it’s actually easier to get to the Springs if you’re coming from Geelong via the ferry. Definitely, the most scenic way to get across Port Phillip Bay from Queenscliff to Sorrento, it’s also pretty efficient, taking around 40 minutes to get you across the large stretch of coastline. From there, it’s about an 18-minute drive (or Uber) to the hot springs.
While the movies are great alone, the springs are estimated to be over ten thousand years old, with water rising 637 metres from below the earth’s surface and heated naturally by the earth’s core. The springs are high in magnesium, boron, potassium, and sodium, all naturally occurring in the geothermal waters. Definitely worth getting a little pruny for this one!
