This Moorabool-based winery is hosting an adults-only wine hunt for Easter

Forget the eggs, search for shiraz at Austin’s Wines this Easter.

As far as traditions go, Easter egg hunts are one of the most thrilling activities for everyone involved—the participants, egg hiders, and spectators, everyone can get it in on the fun.

Turning tradition on its head, one local winery thinks we deserve a little more than chocolate after the couple of wild years we’ve all had.

Giving you enough time to start limbering up, Austin’s Wines has just announced they’ll be ramping up the Easter fun this long weekend with its inaugural adults-only wine hunt. Yes, a wine hunt.

Stay up to date with what’s happening in and around the region here

Anyone who has a cellar door booking on Easter Saturday and Easter Sunday at the Moorabool-based winery will get to partake in a traditional Easter egg hunt, for the little ones, or a trailblazing wine hunt for the adults. Will you find a bottle of prosecco behind the shed or a crisp rosé in the bushes? Anything’s possible.

Austin’s Wines Co-Owner, Belinda Austin, said the initiative was born through the brand’s innate love of fun and its tongue-in-cheek sensibility.

“We never like to take ourselves too seriously and always think good wine should be accessible to all,” Belinda said.

“It’s every adult’s dream to be able to participate in a wine hunt and be able to search for your favourite pinot noir or sauvignon blanc. It’ll be lots of fun and there’ll be something for everyone come Easter weekend, with traditional Easter egg hunts still available for little ones.

“It’ll be a lot of fun and it’s no extra charge, simply book a table with your girlfriends, family or co-workers and you’ll be able to participate in either an Easter egg hunt or wine hunt. It’s the perfect long weekend outing.”

She’s not wrong about that!

Of course, festivities will be complemented by wine tastings and decadent cheese platters at the cellar door plus slow-cooked barbecue, courtesy of Workers Barbecue, on both Easter Saturday and Easter  Sunday from 11am to 5pm.

So we guess we’ll see you there for this grown-up version of an Easter egg hunt. Bring your A-game.

It all goes down at Austin’s Wines, 870 Steiglitz Road, Sutherlands Creek Easter Saturday, April 16 & Easter Sunday April 17 at 11:30am and 3:30pm. Simply book your table at Austin’s Wines on Easter Saturday or Easter Sunday for the opportunity to partake in a wine hunt for free.
