Located in Belmont, Cara Mia Cake is a local Geelong business renowned for suppling wholesale cupcakes across the region who now own their very own cupcakery. Led by the dream team Poppy and Andrew Tonkin, the duo are purists when it comes to their cupcakes, specialty cakes and desserts, with decades of experience in baking and dessert making between them.
Freshly made with only the best ingredients, a cupcake from Cara Mia Make is a worthy indulgence and now it’s one you can have late at night!
After extensive renovations to the quaint venue on Kidman Avenue, the cupcakery had reopened with a new dine-in area and new opening hours bringing Geelong the cutest new late-night dessert spot. Hello date night?

While maintaining its regular hours, the hot spot will now open from 5pm until late every Friday and Saturday night for coffee and dessert. With new outdoor seating and indoor seating, you can dig into all the sweets to fill up your belly after dinner (or instead of dinner, we don’t judge!).
All-new interiors that have transformed the space into a bright, minimalist hangout, oozing a cool and contemporary vibe. Nailing the finishing touches, you’ll now find a gallery wall, pendant features, fresh paint, brand new signage and sleek white chairs to park yourself on in readiness for a feast. The renovations have been a labour of love for the business, doing so with repurposed wood. From the sign rescued from a 110-year-old fireplace mantle to the 150-year-old tabletop and a beautiful 1950 antique bike and antique cake cabinet, these additions help make the space as welcoming as it is.
Giving us another reason to stop by one night soon, the local business has also grown their cupcake range for 2022, introducing some new, mouth-watering flavours. When it comes to the classics, you can get red velvet, vanilla birthday cake, butterbeer, choc chip cookie dough, jaffa, and jam donut.
Gluten-free cupcakes include lemon raspberry, tiramisu, date and butterscotch, chocolate crackle, vanilla and caramel slice, while vegan cupcakes peanut butter cookie dough, choc brownie, orange poppyseed, jam donut and vanilla unicorn dreams.
The combined offering of vegan AND gluten-free cupcakes includes orange poppyseed, vanilla funfetti, lavender and lemon, mocha latte, chocolate and vanilla brownie while the brand new low-sugar offering includes vanilla funday, vanilla raspberry, choc peanut butter and chocolate.
Sweet, moist and pretty darn cute, Cara Mia Cupcake will never ever let you down – and they can all be served alongside delicious, expertly brewed coffee.
