This Geelong venue makes lockdown a breeze with drive-through parmis, burgers, pizza and beer

The pub lifestyle just got more convenient.

The locally-owned restaurant and bar The Hop Inn isn’t new, in fact, it’s been a favourite among locals for a while now.

While partly due to their support of local live music, delicious meals and stunning views, The Hop Inn became worth their weight in gold when they started offering drive-through takeaway to their customers.

Catering to those that despise getting out of the car to get their grub, while still maintaining the high-quality food standard (a notion uncommon for ‘fast food’), the drive-through addition was such a hit they’ve decided to do it every damn night, open to absolutely anyone who wants to order a meal.

The key takeaways

  • The Hop Inn are running takeaways and deliveries in lockdown
  • Customers can pick up their orders via a drive-through
  • You can order via the website

Keep up with the latest food and booze news via our website.

While it was introduced before COVID, having already established their drive-through coffee prior, this local business gave residents in lockdown a reprieve from the small inconveniences that would usually come alongside picking up your takeaway. Essentially that means you no longer have to (inconveniently) remove yourself from the car to get a Nashville hot chicken burger – just like you’d get from the pub if you were dining in.

This was especially crucial (and quite frankly appreciated) at the height of the pandemic when social distancing, hand sanitiser and a dreaded uncertainty and fear was awash amongst the community.

18 months later and it’s clearly a winning formula, especially with the consistent return to lockdowns in the region.

Five nights a week you can indulge in a delicious pub fare from the comfort of your own home, with the takeaway window open from Wednesday through to Sunday to pick up the goods.

As for what exactly you can order, it’s all the favourites. Garlic and cheese bread, onion rings, fried calamari, The Hop’s famed chicken parmi, fish, wings, rockings pizzas, ribs and brisket, and of course, their mouth-watering burgers.

At the moment, they’ve even got some pretty tidy lockdown combos on offer. There’s the classic combo which gets you a large pizza, wings and an alcoholic selection of your choosing; combo #2 which gets you a burger, a snack and a can (beer or soft drink) for just $29; or and this is our favourite, the mega family combo! Here you’ll get two large pizzas, two snacks, wings, four cans of soft drink and two cans of Hop XPA, all for just $89. Saving money and eating well in lockdown has never been so easy.

To order your meal, all you have to do is head to their website, choose your items and select your time for pick up. The beauty of this is you can pre-order ahead of time, making planning those crucial lockdown outings worthwhile.

As if that wasn’t all sweet enough, you can even add on dessert (apple pie and sticky date anyone?), as well as a huge selection of craft beer, cider and wine to your order. That includes their very own XPA, as well as favourites from the likes of Bells Beach Brewing, Fury & Son, Deeds, and Tallboy & Moose, among many others.

If that lockdown life has well and truly got you settled in at home, the venue are also offering home delivery Wednesday through to Saturday to Armstrong Creek and surrounding areas.
