One pint and a popcorn, please?
Tucked away, in the historic Rock O’Cashel Lane, behind the heritage-listed façade of a three-storey building lies Medusa – one of Geelong’s newest bars taking over the space previously occupied by beloved function venue Rock O’Cashel.
Brought to you by the familiar faces behind Valhalla Brewing & Taproom, Medusa is one of Geelong’s best-kept secrets thanks to its DJs spinning vinyl, movie nights and some seriously unreal happy hour specials (hello, $2 pots on Wednesdays and Sundays).
Stay up to date with what’s happening in and around the region here.
While there’s a lot to love about this unique little gem, it’s the aforementioned movie nights that have us excited!
Giving us another reason to head on in for a midweek drink, Medusa is – and has been for a while now – hosting Wednesday Film Nights.
Movies kick off at 6pm each week with the venue giving away free popcorn and screening some absolute cult and classic flicks. So far we’ve seen the likes of Rocky Horror Picture Show, Reservoir Dogs, Goodfellas, and there’s even been a dedicated horror night coinciding with Friday The 13th.
This week they’ll be screening the one and only Grease. Since its release in June of 1978, the film adaptation of the hit Broadway musical Grease has remained an enduring fixture of pop culture. Starring the late Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta, is a quintessential tale of teenage devotion set against the musical backdrop of the 1950s.
There’s even a Film Club you can join, and for every drink, you get one vote for the next film that the venue put on! How good?!
Warm up for the film night with $2 pots from 5pm to 6pm.
If Wednesday’s aren’t your vibe, they also run monthly Sunday Sessions which will feature a bunch of talented local artists and Fem Punk Nights, where punk is spinning all night from the ‘baddest b*tches on vinyl’. Brilliant.
Medusa is the perfect place if you’re after some of the best deals and the best vibes in Geelong. It’s a Melbourne hidden bar feel right on our doorstep.
Medusa is located at 2 Rock O’Cashel Lane, Geelong.
