This Geelong Brewery is shouting Melburnians 1000 free pies – made with beer – for AFL grand final weekend

With the majority of Victorians confined to their couches to watch the big game, Furphy are just wanting to give fans that game-day feeling of a hot meat pie.

Sitting amongst the roaring crowd at the MCG with a pie in one hand and a beer in the other is quite possibly as Australian as you can get. A national dish, it’s one of the only foods Aussies will inhale at footy games, with nearly hundreds and thousands sold at AFL finals games alone.

With the AFL Grand Final moved to Perth (now the second year in a row it’s not played at the MCG), beloved Geelong brewery Furphy is here to cheer up Melburnians who might feel a bit stiffed as two Victorian teams battle it out across the other side of the country.

Teaming up with Geelong’s Routleys Bakery, Furphy has created their very own ‘Porky Pies’ for the Grand Final, combining brewed Furphy with chunky beef and bacon, and encased in crisp, flaky pastry and they’re shouting 1000 free pies for Melburnians to enjoy during the game. How good?!

The giveaway kicks off on Tuesday and will be available to 500 lucky fans, who will be delivered a two-pack of Furphy Footy Porky Pies. Fans just need to order online and be within 20km of Melbourne CBD to claim their freebie to be delivered just in time for the Dees to take on the Dogs on Saturday.

Maybe they’ll expand their giveaway to Geelong now that we’re in lockdown? Fingers crossed. Either way, let your footy-crazed mates in Melbourne know.

Simples. Just follow this link from noon on Tuesday, September 21 and be one of the first 500 to order.
