Summer Sounds is the new music festival hitting Sidney Myer Music Bowl.

Going down as part of Live at the Bowl, a new music festival is set to hit Melbourne in late February and early March. Summer Sounds has your COVID safety in mind and will see punters revelling in their own private booths, with tickets coming in three different categories – private decks, stall table and balcony seats.

The festival is new to Victoria, but is currently enjoying a South Australian leg in Adelaide’s Bonython Park, featuring performances from everyone from Spiderbait to Will Sparks, Dune Rats and Hot Dub Time Machine.

The key takeaways

  • Summer Sounds will take place each night from Thursday, February 25 to Saturday, February 27, and on Thursday, March 4
  • The lineup includes the likes of King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Bernard Fanning, Tropical Fuck Storm, Spacey Jane and more
  • Tickets can be purchased in groups of two, four or six in three different categories – private decks, stall table and balcony seats.

So who’s playing?

Well, kicking off proceedings on Thursday, February 25 will be Ball Park Music, joined by Thelma Plum and a special guest. The next night, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard will perform their first live show since COVID-19 hit alongside the weird and wonderful Tropical Fuck Storm. Then as part of a bumper Saturday night program, Powderfinger legend Bernard Fanning will take to the stage alongside Something For Kate and one other special guest.

The good times keep rolling into the next week with Summer Sounds welcoming triple j favourites and recent Hottest 100 podium finishers Spacey Jane on Thursday, March 4. They’ll be joined by beloved locals RAT!hammock for the final night of the four-date festival.

As part of the three ticket categories, festival-goers will be able to sit in groups of two, four or six. Presale tickets become available from midday Friday, January 29, with general onsale getting underway from 9am on Monday, February 1.
