There’s a massive donut festival happening in July and we’re here for it

This will put you on the sugar high of your life.

Okay, let’s be honest here. That new year’s resolution to get fit and cut out dessert from your diet, that’s long gone. So, if you’re going to indulge, you may as well do it right and what better way to do that than with a donut festival.

Yes. A festival dedicated to those doughy, sugary, glazed little round works of art.

Taking to the foodie capital this July (originally scheduled for June, the Queen Vic Market will deliver an epic free Donut Festival, where Melbourne’s best doughnut-makers will be dishing up their sugary creations for a day of deliciousness.

Love donuts? Here’s where to stock up locally.

Expect to find the OG hot jam donuts, oozing chocolate-filled donuts, vegan and gluten-free donuts, churro bowls, 1950’s style milkshakes and so much more. We’re seriously going to be spoiled for choice with the likes of American Doughnut Kitchen, Bistro Morgan Bakehouse, St Gerry’s, Short Stop Melbourne, Churro Kitchen, Pasta Face, Mimmo’s and Gorilla Grill.

There’ll also be live music, entertainment for the kids and even a donut eating competition, where donut lovers can prove themselves by devouring as many donuts as they can for two minutes for the chance to win a year’s supply of hot jam doughnuts from the American Doughnut Kitchen, plus market vouchers. The competition is hosted by Darren Purchese and registration for is free via the Queen Victoria Market website.

It all goes down at Queen Victoria Market on Sunday 4 July, 9am – 4pm. Visit the website here.
