Whether you’re a first-timer or you feel confident belting out all the notes for all the parts in Bohemian Rhapsody, Geelong’s Glee Club will suit all confidence levels.

Glee Club, Melbourne’s famous singing group is coming to Geelong and is launching with a huge sing-a-long to Queen on Sunday 13 March 2022 at Beavs Bar.

No doubt you’ve heard of or seen Ryan Murphy’s musical comedy-drama Glee, a series that focused on the William McKinley High School glee club, the New Directions, right?

Well, Glee Club is exactly that, minus the drama, of course. It’s a group of individuals that sing along to pop classics across pub and bar venues from Melbourne’s CBD to Yarraville, Brighton and Hobart – now, it’s Geelong’s turn.

Essentially, Glee is like being in a choir, without the commitment of being in a choir. You don’t have to audition, no solos or pressure – and yes, you can even drink while you sing.

Vicky Jacobs leads the sessions and has developed a reputation for being able to get everyone to sing with confidence from the most nervous new singers to Australia’s top stars. She has worked in the music departments of hit shows such as Moulin Rouge, Come From Away and Jersey Boys but loves nothing more than getting a group of people singing their hearts out.

Throughout the singalong, Vicky injects a load of fun, personality and encouragement into the club. Creating an entirely judgement-free zone, attendees in Geelong will be tackling Queen straight-up rockers to timeless ballads and ambitious, groundbreaking anthems that broke all the rules.

And the best part is you don’t need the vocal range of Freddie Mercury either. Your voice could be fit, rusty or never-brought-out-in-public-before. If you find the harmonies tricky, Vicky encourages attendees to just sing any note they like or have another sip of wine if prefered.

If you’re thinking you want to join a choir (that’s more fun than a choir), Glee will definitely find you somebody to sing with.

So, if you’re just a poor boy/girl with no-one to sing with, come and sing-a-long to Queen to celebrate Glee Club finally landing in Geelong.

Glee Club Queen Sing-a-long Celebration goes down on Sunday, 13 March 2022 from 5pm at Beavs Bar, Geelong. For more info, head here
