The Wanderer: My Australian Wish List

Now that I’m back in Australia for good, I’ve decided that it might be a nice idea to focus my travels on my home country for a while. Australia is such a brilliant, huge country, and there is seriously so much to be explored and discovered!

To get the ball rolling, and to encourage myself to take the next steps and start booking or thinking more deeply about these destinations, I thought it would be a nice idea to write them down! Writing lists like these always get me super excited to start travelling again, and also make things a little more real.

Yarra Valley
The Yarra Valley looks unbelievably lovely. Charming, peaceful, and with a good handful of wineries and cellar doors to choose from! Any getaways involving wine will get a thumbs up from me! Having the Yarra Valley so close by in Victoria, and near Melbourne also makes it a quite achievable destination.

Daylesford
I’m really yearning for a relaxing trip, and Daylesford seems like it would do the trick. I haven’t been here since I was about seven years old, so I’m keen to get back and explore as an adult. We’re talking some serious unwinding whilst relaxing in day spas here, people. Yes thanks!

Byron Bay
Having been to Sydney a number of times now, Byron Bay is somewhere I’ve desperately wanted to visit for years. With the impressive beaches, laid back locals and an active health and wellness industry, it’s a surprise I don’t have flights booked right now! I’d love to spend a summers weekend up there and hit up some festivals.

Adelaide (or ‘Radelaide’)
The South Australian capital has always been intriguing to me. It looks beautiful with its mix of city meets country, and is somewhere I could spend a lot of time exploring. And whilst I’m in South Australia I could always head to Kangaroo Island, or treat myself in the Barossa Valley!

Tasmania
Having lived in England for three years, there’s something about the way Tasmania looks that really draws me in. From what I’ve read and the pictures I’ve seen, it looks to have a similar charm and quaint vibe about it. Which is a definite tick, tick from me! I’d love to do a road trip around Tasmania, and to spend some time in Hobart.

Uluru
My family and I have always dreamt of heading up north and experiencing the Heart of Australia. It’s obviously a very special part of Australia to many people, and I’ve heard incredible things about visiting Uluru. Some say it’s more of a spiritual experience, which is definitely something I hope to encounter.

The Whitsundays
The Whitsunday islands look like an absolute dream! And to think that they’re in our home country is crazy! I need to take advantage of being home and head up that way to do some boozy island hopping. Airlie Beach would most certainly be a good starting point!

I know this might seem like a lengthy list, but I’m very excited to start ticking things off. With some of these places being in Victoria, it will hopefully make it more achievable.

If I plan some weekend trips, and maybe add a few trips together, that will make it all the easier!
