The Village Door Café take brunch to a whole new level with their ultimate platters

The only place to be this weekend.

Whether it’s ricotta hotcakes topped with poached pear, berries and honeycomb, avocado toast topped with runny poached eggs or a smoked salmon eggs Benedict, breakfast is and most certainly should always be an all-the-time food.

As a treat to those who are seizing the morning, or for the type who love spending that extra time between the sheets, Pakington Street’s charming Village Door Café are truly killing the Geelong breaky game.

Boasting authentic homemade recipes with genuine European chefs from all different backgrounds, café patrons can feast on the very best breakfast and brunch items, all prepared fresh in their kitchen and made with love.

With the breaky and brunch menu now available until 2pm, you can stroll in just in time for the afternoon sun and indulge in vegan breaky granola, French toast with cinnamon sugar, berries and cream, sweet Pierogi, Dutch pancakes, cévapi muffins, hangover rolls, avo smash, along with some delicious Julius Meinl coffee for that glorious caffeine fix. There’s even a hangover roll, The Village (big) breakfast and of course, Avo Smash.

While we can’t fault these items, there is one breaky option for when you’re really battling some breakfast cravings and that’s their delicious breakfast platter.

Perfect for a breakfast date for two or one very hungry person, the aptly titled ‘Ultimate Breakfast Platter’ boasts eggs your way, bacon, krajnski sausage, ćevapi, mushroom, tomato, beans, hash browns and dutch pancakes, with your choice of toppings. There’s lemon and sugar, fresh strawberries, jam and cream, Nutella and ice cream, or maple syrup and ice cream! Honestly, we’d eat this every day if we could.

Some picks from the lunch menu include traditional items including Sarma (Cabbage Rolls), Krajnske or Ćevapi burgers, Ćevapi served multiple ways including with a traditional Balkan bread called Lepinja which is freshly made each week, a Ukranian/Polish specialty made in house called Pierogi (cheese and potato dumplings), Beef and vegetable Goulash, and an indulgent Gnocchi of the day. There’s even a grilled chicken salad, bruschetta, open suvlaki and grilled marinated calamari.

If you’re having trouble deciding on one item for lunch, the team have you covered with ‘The Village Door Platter’. It’s loaded with all the best bites including Ćevapi, krajnski, pita bread, chips, kupus salata (cabbage salad), garden salad, dips and sauces, with your choice of chicken or calamari.

At this family-run business, you will find a small taste of Europe, with hearty meals (based on their Croatian heritage), great-tasting coffee, sweets to die for and a warm and inviting atmosphere where visitors can go to share laughs, stories and an afternoon coffee on any given day.

You can book your breaky via the website. You can find them at 156 Pakington Street, Geelong West.
