Against all odds, the Great Ocean Road Chocolaterie’s Rocky Road Festival has made its return this May.
Every year for the entire month (yes, all 31 days), the European Chocolatiers give the classic Aussie Rocky Road treat a makeover and create 31 different flavours of the treat, taking form as handmade blocks, bars, truffles, ice creams and desserts using couverture chocolate with seasonal and exotic ingredients.
Continuing the celebration of the marshmallow, nut, cherry and chocolate creation in new and inspired ways, this year the festival will run as a virtual event, delivering Rocky Road Festival sensations to anyone and everyone until May 31.
For the Rocky Road devotees, there’s an ultimate Rocky Road Festival Box of all 31 handcrafted creations that you can get your hands on, so you don’t miss a single limited-edition flavour sensation. You’ll indulge in everything from golden gaytime, tiramisu, salted caramel popcorn, and a lemonade fizz, to the chai latte, cookie monster, mint madness and even a salty pretzel – just to name a few.
If you love your Rocky Road but don’t think you need all 31 flavours, you can head to the ‘Pick and Mix’ section of the website and create your own four pack of the hand-made blocks to devour at home.
Keeping up with the usual festival antics, the team are recreating their popular interactive tasting sessions with their ‘Rocky Road Festival At Home Tasting Kits’, which can be ordered via the website. Kits will arrive with a tasting mat, 12 different rocky road bites, a handcrafted rocky road truffle, a brownie exploding ball, and a rocky road hot chocolate whisk to create a rockin’ drink. There’s even a choice of chocolate and ingredients to make your own 300g rocky road block.
For an added touch of authenticity, tasters can join the Chocolatiers via Facebook Live sessions to who will talk through each creation and help you make your own. These sessions will run every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 11am throughout May.
