The Pleasure Garden should be at the top of your festival list this December. Coined as an immersive, creative arts and music feast set in a picturesque parkland, this one will be a delight for the senses and a treat for the soul – so to speak. It’s been said that The Pleasure Garden will change you, and if last year is anything to go by, you’re in for a day in paradise, especially with the diverse crop of artists who’ll be gracing its stages in 2017.
Going one better this year, they’ve already unleashed an outrageous first announcement with New Zealand dub virtousos Fat Freddy’s Drop as the headline act for this one-dayer and their only Victorian performance for the year, alongside REMI and Montaigne, who have captured the hearts of audiences around the country in recent years.
There will also be live performances from bass juggernaut Opiuo, producer Stickybuds, L-Fresh The Lion, as well as Chant Down Sound, MoodMachine, Thankyou City, JPS, Willaris. K, 8 Foot Felix, Lickweed, Rachel By The Stream, Monkee & C:1 & Dyzlexic, Mz Rizk and Mama Wonkita – with even more yet to be announced.
2017 will also see the addition of two new stages – Bass Station, featuring bass, dub and more on the specially created Heartical HiPowa Soundsystem. The House Party stage is the other dance residence and can be expected to be heaving with all the best electronica.
Along with a huge line-up of musical offerings, the festival will also feature mischievous roving theatrical performances and a massive array of kaleidoscopic art installations. St Kilda’s foreshore will be transformed to present a collision of world-class music and immersive theatrical splendour, and is a day you will not want to miss.
