The Parking Lot Social is a touring drive-in party bringing movies, bands and karaoke to Melbourne

With large concerts and festivals currently cancelled for the near future in Australia, we’ve seen a recent wave of ‘drive-in’ events as the entertainment industry scrambles to provide Australia with a remedy for the outdoor events that have become engrained in our everyday lives in recent years.

Thanks to the team that recently brought us Big Bounce Australia (the world’s largest inflatable theme park), we’re now getting a tasty new supersized drive-in experience with The Parking Lot Social.

A drive-in event unlike anything we’ve seen before, this new, touring experience will roll through Australia from July this year, with stops in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne, bringing together everything you love about music festivals and outdoor events into one incredible night out.

Essentially, each event will feature a carefully curated mix of new and classic entertainment concepts that everyone can enjoy, combining them in one place while complying with physical-distancing measures.

There will be movies, from family friendly blockbusters to cult classic midnight screenings, for those keen on kicking back in the car; car-a-oke for guests to come together in one mass, slightly out of tune, singalong with a live band; and a festival favourite Silent Disco, where guests will use wireless headphone technology to select their DJ of choice with some awesome battles scheduled.

The pop-up will also feature bands, interactive trivia and bingo games, stand-up comedians, delicious street food (delivered straight to your car) and a whole lot more. There’s even a ‘Social Kids’ experience, providing fun, interactive experiences during the day for the whole family.

With capacity for 250 cars, the interactive entertainment will be broadcast from the stage straight to the cars, bringing people together while still keeping that safe distance apart.

As a touring experience, this won’t be around for long, rolling into Melbourne on July 23 until August 2. We still don’t have word on a location just yet. Tickets will be released in stages so register your interest for early-bird tickets by heading to their website.
