The Paper Kites: On The Corner Where You Live

The Paper Kites’ album On The Corner Where You Live will evoke emotions of love, loss and earning for what’s beyond sight.
The eleven track album is mostly mellow with repetitive instrumentation behind harmonic vocals. Beginning with an instrumental ‘A Gathering on 57th’ is a good representation of the album, emotional, harmonised and the sort of thing you would listen to while staring out an apartment window. The lyrics throughout the album are highly emotive which works with the feeling throughout the tracks. Bringing a Saxophone into the mix helps with breaking up the mellowness and filling the void of a strong vocal lead.
Although the album may have been fluent with calming tones, the song ‘Flashes’ is a top favorite vocal led track with an acoustic beginning. The flow of the album is there and by starting and finishing on similar notes it give fulfillment to the listener.
