Few good things have come out of ‘The Birdie Song’. Simon Hudson is an exception. Upon teaching someone how to play the song, he was given a guitar … and all the power that comes with it. He would turn to world music later in life, studying the African and Brazilian masters, incorporating the sounds with his influences – The Cat Empire, José González, Neil Finn and Paul Simon.
A Bachelor of Music at NMIT in Melbourne would follow. Now, as ringleader of Simon Hudson Band, he weaves a blend of world, roots and folk. September saw the release of Earthman, an album created thanks to a $10,000 Pozible campaign. Simon Hudson Band will perform in Ararat as part of Ararat Live on January 13.
