The Humans In Geelong expo confirmed to go-ahead in December showcasing Geelong’s amazing locals

Following the 2021 Humans in Geelong Online Expo, the annual event has been confirmed for an in-person event.

The 2021 Humans in Geelong Expo is set to go ahead this December at the Geelong Racing Club for the very first time, following the online expo that went ahead in early October in leiu of the regular event.

Hosted by the Humans in Geelong – a team of volunteers telling the positive stories of our region – this is a free community event showcasing Geelong’s amazing locals. The event aims to inspire, connect and strengthen the Geelong community. Visitors can expect guest speakers, exhibitors, live music and plenty of fun for the kids.

Going down on Sunday, December 5 2021, the Humans in Geelong Expo will be a colourful pantheon of the city’s human resources, assets, changemakers and talents, surrounding guests with all things that are inspiring, connecting and strengthening for our community.

Within the expo, you’ll find several exhibitors, thought-provoking speakers, and uplifting culturally diverse performances.

In the courtyard, the fun begins with Henna by Ani Qayyumi, Shazza’s Face Painting, Craft for Kids – decorating Humans in Geelong Bags to take home, Rock Painting with Encompass, Wooden Tic Tac Toe making with St Leonards Men’s Shed, TJ’s Face Painting – Ana and Olaf from Frozen with giant bubbles and glitter tattoos, The Angel Abrabanel living statue by D. Gordon, Geelong Crusaders, The Empowerment Challenge mobile and information, skater Yavisht Katgara and an SES interactive truck. There are also plans for a jumping castle, an animal farm and a bunch of food trucks.

Speakers this year will include the likes of The Streets Barber Nasir Sobhani, Sober Mates founder Sam Wilson, Abundant Life Coach Sandy J, Cathy Roth of Professionals with Alzheimer’s, and the Cold & Conscious crew who will discuss Positive Mindsets through Cold Therapy, among others.

Opening the event with a Welcome to Country from Wadawurrung woman Corrina Eccles, performances will cover all sorts of music, song, and dance, including Lithuanian dancers, Didgeridoo Music by Michael Cussens and Liam Salvado, Skip Hip Hooray and the Skipping Brothers, Wild Moves International Drumming, One Voice Choir, Alexis Warden, Local Cuban Salsa Dance, Charlie Gregory, The Sweethearts, and The Mik Maks. You name it, they’ve got it.

On top of that, the Expo will feature a slew of local exhibitors including Piano Bar Geelong, Study Geelong, Geelong Field Naturalists, Encompass, Belmont Toy Library, WILD – Women in Local Democracy, ABC Friends Geelong, AmAbility, One Fire Reconciliation Group, Parkinson’s Support Geelong, Barwon Health Palliative Care inclusion LGBTQI, Juzt Art Wellness Art Classes and Resilience Mindset, several talented local artists and ‘Laughter Sessions’ with Phillipa Challis on the Members Lawn, Orange Sky Laundry van.
