Little Malop Street’s The Hot Chicken Project are throwing a fundraiser event on Father’s Day

Words by Staff Writer

Drink up and ink up this Father's Day at The Hot Chicken Project Geelong for a very special community cause.

After having an accident falling from a height which left him with 13 broken ribs and a broken collarbone, Chris Jones has been suffering. As the sole business owner of tattoo parlour, Ocean Grove Tattoo, his business has also been suffering, with Jones unable to work for three months during his recovery. The ripple effect has also impacted his livelihood, causing financial strain.

It’s a nasty story and one that the absolute legends at The Hot Chicken Project Geelong sympathise with, so much so that they cannot help but lend a hand. Their plan? A community fun-raiser (as they call it) event!

Fun-Raiser Tattoo Flash Day at The Hot Chicken Project

  • When: Sunday 1 September, 12pm
  • Where: The Hot Chicken Project, 84 Little Malop Street Geelong

Keep up with the latest food and booze news across the regionĀ here.

In an unlikely pairing, chicken, beer and tattoos come together for the Fun-Raiser Tattoo Flash Day, with The Hot Chicken Project set to be buzzing as live tattoos are served as part of their menu alongside spicy chicken wings, burgers and pints. Enlisting local tattoo artists Lachie Grenfell, Amber Jane, Lewis Hussey, Pablo Morte, Wade Johnston, Claire Kocaj, Mark Lording and Kane Berry, the fundraiser event on Sunday 1 September (Father’s Day), taking place from 12pm onwards will encourage community to get tattooed for the Jones family with all proceeds going towards their financial aid. Whether you have wanted a tattoo for a while, or simply want to support the cause, there is no better time to get inked than at this event!

Adding to the atmosphere inside The Hot Chicken Project, DJ’s Pinky and Maz will be on the decks pumping out tunes to ease the stinging pain. Giveaways and raffles and other fun activities will roll out throughout the day to get people digging deep into their pockets to support the cause.

Whilst The Hot Chicken Project already has an amazing stock of drinks and brews including local favourite Blackman’s Brewery Pacific Ale on tap and Melbourne longnecks from the fridge, the event will see The Hot Chicken Project up the ante with Joe Jones from Purple Pit on cocktail duties.

With support from Good Drinks Aus, Gage Roads Brew Co, Songbird Thai BBQ, Coors, Vic Market Tattoo and burger neighbours OK Smash, the Fun-Raiser Tattoo Flash Day is a great way to give back to community and support a family doing it tough through good food and great tatts!

Further details on the event can be found through The Hot Chicken Project’s socials.
