After a sensational 2024, The Sound Doctor is kicking off this year with a jam-packed program sure to get music lovers excited. With a lineup featuring both international stars and Aussie favourites, it's going to be epic.

The venue had an incredible year, with sell-out performances from artists like Marlon Williams (NZ), Steve Poltz (USA), and Dan Sultan. The cherry on top? The Sound Doctor was named Best Regional Venue (< 50 gigs) at the Music Victoria Awards. It’s safe to say they’ve set the bar high, but with their dedicated team of volunteers, they’re more than ready for what 2025 has in store.

The year begins with two massive shows. First up,  Surfcoast’s own garage rockers The Grogans will bring their genre-blending sound to Anglesea Memorial Hall, supported by local punk-pop group De Porsal. If you’re looking for the perfect way to say goodbye to summer, this is it.

Then in March, US folk supergroup Bonny Light Horseman (USA) are playing an already sold-out show. Featuring NYC legends like Anaïs Mitchell, Eric D. Johnson, and Josh Kaufman—whose connections include Taylor Swift, The National, and Fruit Bats—this trio, along with their band, will perform songs from their latest album Keep Me on Your Mind/See You Free.

The album, partly recorded in a cozy pub in County Cork, Ireland, is a sprawling, inviting piece of work. They’ll be joined by Maple Glider, a Sound Doctor favourite, for a night that promises to be unforgettable.

Fast forward to May, and The Sound Doctor will have three incredible nights lined up just before winter hits. Friday, May 23 will feature Press Club, Naarm/Melbourne’s indie-punk rockers, led by the electrifying Nat Foster. With their new album To All The Ones That I Love dropping on 2 May, they’ll kick off their tour in Melbourne before heading down the coast for a high-energy performance that’s sure to get the crowd moving.

The following night will take things down a notch with Marina Allen (USA), an LA singer-songwriter returning to Australia to showcase her third album, Eight Pointed Star. With a voice compared to legends like Carole King and Maggie Rogers, her folk-rock sound brings something fresh to the genre. This intimate, seated show will be perfect for those who love a more subdued, yet powerful, live experience.

Then, rounding out the first half of the year on Sunday 25 May, is the iconic Joan As Police Woman (USA). The multi-talented artist will perform a mix of classics from her extensive career alongside tracks from her latest album Lemons, Limes, and Orchids. This highly anticipated show is already sold out, sorry folks!

With a mix of international heavyweights and homegrown talent, there’s something for everyone at these unforgettable live experiences. Get your tickets while you can—these shows are bound to sell out fast!
