The Geelong Small Business Festival is back once again to support and inspire the local businesses shaping our community

Shape HR Director, Cameron Shepherd

For anyone looking to start an online business, develop new skills, grow your existing business or connect with other local businesses.

With Geelong home to some of the most creative, innovative and thriving small businesses that are still navigating through uncertain times (18 months later…), there’s never been a more important time to focus on the little guys that are shaping our culture and community.

Delivered by the City of Greater Geelong in partnership with the State Government, the Geelong Small Business Festival is back once again, championing small local businesses.

The key takeaways

  • The Geelong Small Business Festivals returns for 2021
  • The festival offers local business owners and entrepreneurs plenty of opportunities to support, upskill and connect with other local businesses
  • Boasting a mix of in-person and online events, all of the events throughout the festival are low cost or free

Keep up with the latest in local news via our website.

Running from August 18 to September 3, the festival will be offering a range of practical and innovative events that cover topics such as business essentials; marketing, social media and promoting your business online; starting a business; growing your business, sales and expanding your networks; career development, leading and managing people; and health and wellbeing.

Jam-packed with more than 40 events spanning these topics, the festival offers local business owners and entrepreneurs plenty of opportunities to support, upskill and connect with other local businesses, which is exactly what we all need right now.

In doing so, the festival also brings together some of our region’s best business experts and leading industry organisations to share their knowledge and experiences. It’s a unique opportunity to learn from industry specialists and build professional networks at a critical time for local businesses. Learn about team coaching from Dianne Flemington from Motion Forward Inc. and Jillian Bolger from Culture + Coaching; discover how to be a smarter social media marketer with Kate Ware from BuzzPop Brands; or hear from naturopath Jarrod Carter and psychotherapist Suzanne Sprague (Doorakkers) who will provide simple tools to improve workplace wellbeing.

You will also be able to refresh your social media skills with Angela Ward from KBB Digital; learn how to use your smartphone to create content with YouTuber and Podcaster Mike James; learn how to start a profitable online business with Kate Herford; or even discover how to bring calm to workplace conflict with Shape HR Director, Cameron Shepherd. There’s even an event that teaches you how to make your business Instagrammable. And that’s barely scraping the surface. There’s so much on offer at this year’s festival.

Boasting a mix of in-person and online events, all of the events throughout the festival are low cost or free, and designed to help local people to improve, expand or even start their own business.

The festival has a history of providing a much-needed boost for those looking to take the next step in their business or can even spark an idea for a successful new venture. It’s also provided many local business owners and entrepreneurs with the knowledge and skills to step into new areas they may have not been confident in before.

Whether you’re looking to start an online business, develop new skills, grow your existing business or connect with other local businesses, the Geelong Small Business Festival has you covered.
