The Delta Riggs: Modern Pressures

The Delta Riggs moves past ‘Active Galactic’ as they hit adulthood with their most mature album to date.

Modern Pressures explores the turbulent nature of modern society, the breakdown of communication as a result of social media’s controlling arm and ponders mortality and its fragile state over the course of twelve tracks. With singles, ‘Fake That’ and ‘Out Of Place’ shaping the album content and sweeping psychedelic fusions sonically, The Delta Riggs have adopted, and expanded, from their previous three records, transforming into a well-rounded outfit.

It’s hard to deny a clear connection between The Delta Riggs and Oasis on Modern Pressures. Not only can Elliot Hammond’s vocals be mistaken for Liam Gallagher and the slide-heavy soaring guitar buzzes Noel Gallagher signature rock ‘n’ roll (particularly evident on the title track), the connection is further strengthened with Brian Lucey on mastering duties.

One connection that is lost in the album is in its identity. With their coming of age, the Delta Riggs experiment with their sound swaying between rock ‘n’ roll, psychedelic rock, blues, reggae and there are slight nods to surf rock, which makes the songs feel disjointed in their delivery as a collection.

Overall The Delta Riggs show their evolution through musicianship and contemplative concepts.
