Celebrating the local region, The Coast is bringing a sophisticated dining experience to Anglesea

Enjoy locally inspired fine dining at this stunning restaurant!

Propped up along the Great Ocean Road, The Coast has revamped its restaurant with a strong focus on celebrating the local region. From using the highest quality local ingredients to the handmade plates that they are presented on; the entire dining experience brings the whole community together and we’re all for it.

Coined by Great Ocean Road Resort owner Damien Cerantonio “one of the region’s leading fine dining experiences”, executive chef, Chris Barlow has designed an entirely new fine dining menu offering Australian fusion dishes showcasing the highest quality local produce of the farms and oceans in the Surf Coast region.

To start off your fine dining experience, you can enjoy something from the long list of entrées including ‘Great Ocean Duck’ pastrami with blood orange jelly, or Tiger prawns with chilli jam and lime! There’s also oysters, pumpkin ravioli, beetroot carpaccio and a Victorian artisan charcuterie platter.

For mains, the menu breaks down several scrumptious quality meals, ‘from the local’ and ‘from our oceans’. From the locals, you can enjoy a beautiful scotch fillet with confit vine tomatoes and delicious chimmi churri; a Two-point local lamb rack, wombok wrapped braised shoulder, mint gel, potato terrine, and pea purée; or a roast Bannockburn Chicken breast with fondant potato, oxtail bon bon, Jerusalem artichoke and truffle purée.

Fresh from the ocean, you can indulge in a banana leaf-wrapped ocean trout with sticky coconut rice and a sweet and sour mango salad; or The Coast bouillabaisse, saffron potatoes, charred sourdough.

There’s also a special range of pastas, included Tarragon gnocchi, confit duck ragu fettucini and a Nduja spiced tomato seafood linguine.

But it doesn’t end there! The Coast offers finger-licking desserts including pain perdu with coffee cream, warm chocolate fondant or a glazed pineapple and ginger sponge!

The menu also offers a range of gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan option to cater to all their guests!

Our mouths are watering just from looking at the menu!

The local-inspired dining menu is complimented by the carefully selected local wines and expertly crafted cocktails featuring Great Ocean Road Gin and Timboon Distillery whiskey. The Coast’s team have meticulously designed pairings for each drink to match perfectly their locally sourced seasonal dishes. So when you’re there why not pair the Tarragon gnocchi with 2017 Brown Magpie Shiraz sourced right from the Surf Coast! Alternatively enjoy an ‘On the Road Again’ cocktail bursting with Raspberry Gin and sorbet, or the ‘Purple Rain’, which is a tantalising dragon fruit-infused vodka with elderflower and mint!

However, if your sweet tooth is still craving more, try one of the restaurant’s dessert cocktails! The ‘After Dinner Mint’ serves peppermint liqueur, with crème de cacao, and the ‘Honeycomb Nutini’ mixes Frangelico with butterscotch schnapps, definitely catching our eye!

Every one of The Coast’s modern Australian dishes is presented on ceramic dinnerware hand-made by local Surf Coast artist Angela Nicholson and placed beside water jugs are crafted beautifully by Anglesea ceramic artists, Melinda Solly.

Brand new coastal décor, timber panelling and furnishings complete the new fit-out by local stylist Melissah Weigall of Indesign Concepts, creating a high-end experience. The Coast also features a formal private dining room with a bespoke banquet-style table, catering for intimate functions of up to 20 guests.

The Coast at Great Ocean Road Resort provides local-inspired fusion dishes and exceptional service seven nights a week and lunch from Friday to Sunday.
