Entries still open for the Ballarat Beard & Stache Competition

There’s no town quite like Ballarat, and for well over a decade the Ballarat Heritage Weekend has been delivering an immersive, engaging and fascinating experience to take visitors beyond the surface and showcase the true uniqueness of the regional town.

While the weekend will be looking a little different this year, featuring a series of experiences will feature as part of this new online edition, there’s still one part of the weekend that remains the same and that’s the esteemed Ballarat Beard and Stache Competition.

Giving people that chance to enjoy some spectacular staches and beards, celebrating all kinds of facial hair, the comp is being held online with entries taken via the Ballarat Heritage Weekend website and judging based on the two photos you will be required to submit.

Even in quarantine, you can’t keep a good beard or moustache down!

Participation is completely free and you can enter your stach-tacular beards in any applicable category. These include the full beard category which will showcase full facial hairiness in all its glory; the Verdi which is for the impeccably groomed beard style (moustache styling encouraged); the partial beard (think goatees, flavour savers, chops, sideburns), and of course the moustache category, which requires top lip coverage only. Styling is high encouraged with this one.

There is also a “just for fun category” where you can play around with fake beards or freestylers, and even the ladies and kids can get involved. With giveaways and prizes up for grabs, you’d be mad not to get around it.

If you’re keen on getting involved, you better be quick as entries close this Saturday (23 May) at 5pm!!

To enter, simply fill out the form on the website and take two high-quality photos of your beard, taken from the waist up. One should be a front on view and the other a side view photo of your facial awesomeness! The winner will be announced on Saturday May 30.

For details, visit ballaratheritageweekend.com or follow the event on Facebook and Instagram to be part of the heritage discussion.
