Tasmania's new Party In The Apocalypse festival is coming back for round two.

Following the huge success of non-camping music & arts festival Party in the Apocalypse Pt.1 which provided a thumping, cathartic end to a maniacal year, Vibestown (the crew behind Party In The Paddock) have announced they’re now heading south to Hobart, bringing their first festival to the region and nipaluna country for Party In The Apocalypse Pt.2.

Despite the foreboding name and the trials and tribulations of the COVID landscape, the new festival brought the biggest lineup to Tassie since the pandemic began (PNAU, Lime Cordiale, Dune Rats, Client Liaison, Cub Sport, Luca Brasi, Ruby Fields, Sycco, King Stingray and much more) to an audience of 10,000 across two days.

Now, Party in the Apocalypse Pt.2, storms onto the scene as a stand out festival for the Tasmanian calendar, taking place at Cornelian Bay, nipaluna / Hobart, on 25th and 26th March 2022.

The key takeaways

  • The crew behind Party In The Paddock announce another edition of Party in the Apocalypse.
  • Party In The Apocalypse is set to bring huge acts to Cornelian Bay, nipaluna / Hobart in March.
  • Lineup announcement coming on February 16.

“Party in the Apocalypse is the (COVID-safe) urban rendition of the late, great Party In The Paddock,’ said Vibestown’s Artistic Director, Jesse Higgs.

‘PITA’, as we’ve dubbed this sibling festival, is inspired by the wild times that we’re living in. We’re looking to bring a fresh perspective to the word ‘Apocalypse’ and its origin meaning of ‘fundamental change’.”

“We’re taking the remaining restrictions very seriously and will continue to work alongside Public Health to bring a safe event that aims to reconnect Tasmania with the essence of its well-loved music and arts scene. With all the focus being on COVID in recent times we are not forgetting about our core values of building community, culture, art and continuing on our path of environmental sustainability. We want to see these things continue to rise into the realm of importance for what festivals will look like in this next decade,” he said.

Punters can expect to enjoy over 20 local and interstate acts across the weekend, visual art installations, food trucks and bars, and some fun and creative pop-up entertainment. With capacity capped at 5,000 each day, event organisers expect tickets to be snapped up quickly.

Stay tuned for a lineup announcement via triple j on February 16 at 9am.
