An anthem for anyone who has ever felt like they were about to lose it.

Indie-pop duo Like Angels, the pairing of Emmalisa and Sarah Engelbrecht, made a splash in 2019 with their poignant debut release ‘Rain’ with all proceeds from the single donated to Australian bushfire and drought relief organisations. The soothing pop song full of sweet harmonies placed the sisters in the ring as a promising indie-pop act in the making – and their recent release well and truly cements their place.

The follow up to their second single ‘Tunnel Vision’ which dropped in May this year, ‘Lose It’ is an honest, relatable and playful track that sees a boost to the sister’s confidence, playing to their strengths and embracing what feels real and genuine.

Released late last week, ‘Lose It’ captures you right from the start with its eccentric samples, steady beat and dynamic vocals, setting you up to bop your head throughout the duration of the nearly four-minute track.

It’s a lush and exuberant, electro-pop anthem with a heady rhythm, unique harmonies, and a super catchy chorus that’ll stay in your head for days. Thematically, ‘Lose It’ is reflective of that climactic moment when someone or something pushes you to your limits; that explosive moment when you can’t take it anymore and you’re about to – as the title suggests – lose it.

Speaking to the importance of facing your problems and solving your own issues, the track encapsulates the consequences of letting your emotions fester rather than dealing with them as they arise, both in the sophisticated electro-beat feel and the lyrics, “I’m about to lose it, I’m sick of your excuses, if you want to heal your bruises from the past then get up and start moving”.

A relatable bop to anyone that’s had the pleasure of dealing with a negative co-worker, an elitist acquaintance or a truly painful relative, the sister’s honest lyricism and intoxicating vocal harmonies are here to remind us of the importance of setting boundaries, instead of letting people take you down with their negativity.

Produced once again by Philippe-Marc Anquitil (Little Mix, Ruel, Jessie J), influences from the likes of Ryan Tedder, Taylor Swift, Switchfoot and NF surge and flourish within their songwriting, with an emphasis on emotional connection.

Capturing the pair at their absolute best, the hypnotic single serves as a taste to the next chapter in the upward trajectory of Like Angels.
