Happy 2022, Sweet Cheeks Cocktail Bar and Dessert Lounge has reopened

Sweet Cheeks prior to the fire.

Following a fire earlier almost 12 months ago, this sweet venue is returning.

One of the newer additions to the Geelong nightlife in recent times, Sweet Cheeks was the go-to place for late-night desserts and delicious cocktails, especially with its bright pink rooftop bar. This place was practically made for summer nights out with the squad (especially those nights where you want to inflict Instagram envy upon your followers!).

With to-die-for desserts and a deliciously oasis for a rooftop bar, the venue was on cloud nine until a fire ripped through the building back in March of 2021.

Keep up with the latest food and booze news via our website.

Causing serious damage beyond immediate repair to the entire rooftop and other parts of the building, the venue – which also included Parma Bar on the first floor – was forced to close its doors indefinitely.

Following the tragedy, Sweet Cheeks 2.0 is in the final stages of completion, and bookings for this month have officially opened after originally intending on opening back in December.

Now with an opening date set for Friday, February 4 2022 (providing there are no more unforeseen delays), it’s the ideal location for those post-iso summer drinks you’ve been waiting for.

Alongside the news of giving Geelong locals another place to enjoy long summer days and warm summer nights with cocktails and desserts, owners Trent Moreland and Brent Gourley have used the rebuilding opportunity to give the space a cheeky revamp alongside the repairs.

With upgrades to the décor and facilities, Sweet Cheeks will now be known as a double-storey dessert lounge in the heart of the bustling Geelong CBD. Taking over the space occupied by Parma Bar, dessert lovers will be able to get their fix on both levels. While the rooftop terrace we know and love will remain on the upper level (alongside the Up Lounge Bar for functions), Sweet Cheeks will now include a dedicated restaurant located downstairs with a number of pancake offerings, as well as hot and cold food options that are perfect for lunch and dinner. Dessert for dinner? Yes please. This area has been dubbed The Pink Paradise, and will be operating late at night for those late-night sweet cravings.

Not only a sugar lovers paradise, but Sweet Cheeks has also become renowned as the most Insta-worthy venue in the Geelong region, with a striking interior and exterior that gives you the feeling you’ve stepped into a pink-tinged city-oasis.

Keeping the vivid colours, neon lights and a relaxed summery atmosphere we’ve come to know and love, with the addition of more photos and props, and a seriously elevated décor and vibe gained as part of the rebuild, Sweet Cheeks will once again be the dreamy oasis boasting city views that’ll have you in holiday-mode -whether you’re sitting in the bright blissful booths or lounge area surrounded by greenery and lanterns.

As for the menu, you’ll still find that it’s brilliantly dedicated to mouth-watering pancakes much like its predecessor. Past favourites included maple ice cream pancakes, lemon and sugar, banana butterscotch, hundreds and thousands (complete with choccy sauce), salted caramel, blueberry buttermilk, classic choc chip, and strawberries and cream. There are also other sweets like cheesecake and sponge if you’re not feeling a stack. The only problem you’ll have here is deciding which one to get.

Their cocktail menu is just as sweet too, boasting the likes of Sangria, espresso martini, the ‘Curly Wurly’, pineapple mojito, Dragonfruit margarita, and fishbowls! A Sweet Cheeks cocktail is pretty much made to be enjoyed on a sunny rooftop.

There’s even a selection of spirits, wine, mocktails, coffee, and beer on tap too.
