Sweary internet sensation Nat’s What I Reckon is releasing a cookbook filled with ‘rad recipes for champions’

'Death to Jar Sauce: Rad Recipes for Champions' will be released on November 16.

Comedian, content creator, metalhead and isolation YouTube sensation Nat’s What I Reckon has become Australia’s isolation saving grace over the last 18 months and now he’s just announced his second book, Death to Jar Sauce: Rad Recipes for Champions.

Making videos as Nat’s What I Reckon for almost a decade, Nat’s hilarious social commentary has amassed a quickly growing, dedicated audience of over 2.5 million along the way, and videos clocking up views close to 100 million across all platforms. While taking the playful and thorough piss out of everything from trade shows and tattoo events to burnout festivals and exploring Area 51, it’s his no-nonsense cooking segments that have been bringing comfort to the masses during the COVID-19 lockdown.

Waging war against processed food after observing that pasta jar-sauce shelves had been picked clean by hoarders but fresh produce sections were full and untouched, Nat launched a no-nonsense instructional video on one of his tried and true pasta sauce recipes. With his classic, sweary style and signature cheery spin and whistle the clip immediately went to a new level of viral for Nat – and for good reason, they are absolutely hilarious. Highlights include the End Of Days BologneseCarbo-Rona Sauce, and Wham Bam Thank You Lamb and have even managed to get the tick of approval from A-List fans including Dave Grohl and Yael Stone.

Honestly, if you haven’t seen them, treat yourself. They are absolute gold.

Having previously released his first book ‘Un-cook Yourself – A Ratbag’s Rules for Life’ last year which featured a tonne of recipes, comics, nine no-nonsense rules, and a whole lot of eye-watering stories from his early years (also won the Booktopia Favourite Australian Book Award for 2020, the proceeds of which Nat donated to Beyond Blue), the sweary, anti-jar-sauce warrior is back and he’s actually written a whole cookbook this time dubbed ‘Death to Jar Sauce: Rad Recipes for Champions’.

Due for release in November via Penguin Random House Australia, Death to Jar Sauce is Nat’s new collection of 25 rad, easy to follow recipes like Honey B*stard Chicken, Get F*cked Roast Potatoes and Frownie Reversal Chocolate Brownies.

It will not only help champions keep levelling up their cooking skills and making ripper feeds from scratch at home, but will also contain Nat’s witty anecdotes on cooking and eating well for self-care and good mental health. The fun and foolproof recipes also come illustrated by Sydney artists Bunkwaa, Glenno, Warrick McMiles and Onnie O’Leary.

There are no questionable ingredients here: purely Nat’s trademark humour, a big dash of cheekiness and some genuinely handy culinary tips to boot. Death to Jar Sauce will see you through the good times and the tough times with a few solid laughs, advice and some great food on your plate.
