Together the event sees trekkers journey through Ironbark forests, along stunning exposed cliff tops, and across long sandy beaches, all with sweeping ocean views in their efforts, with the event also including entertainment along the way.
So much more than just a walk, The Surf Coast Trek is a vital charity fundraiser for Kids+ and Give Where You Live Foundations with hundreds putting on their joggers to trek from starting points of Aireys Inlet or Anglesea to Torquay trekking 40km or 26km respectively for the causes.
Kids+ provides specialist allied health services and supports to babies, children and young adults with disabilities whilst The Give Where You Live Foundation provides funding, programs and advocacy to reduce inequality and build a fairer community, improving education outcomes, helping people with employment and training opportunities and supporting them through life crises. Both essential providers to our community, to date, The Surf Coast Trek has raised $2.1 million dollars for the two foundations, funding programs such as Kids+ Parent Infant Program, which supports premature babies through the first two years of life and the Give Where You Live Housing Support and Food Relief local partnerships.
The 2024 Surf Coast Trek saw over 1,000 people take part in the Trek, raising over $290,000 for the two foundations. Not only will 2025’s Surf Coast Trek aim to be even bigger than before, it makes a historic milestone for the fundraising event which celebrates 10 years since its inception, encouraging more sign-ups and donations for the special event.
It’s a rewarding experience that not only kicks fitness goals but helps support vital community organisations.
